Week 13 (11 July)
RESULT: Draw 1:1
SCORERS: Ayrton Lucero
Well done boys! It was an exciting game and what a difference a full team makes. Thanks to Zac Raddatz for filling in again, what a great player from the under 8’s team. The season is almost over – this week we are playing against the Redfield Lions, who are on top of the ladder. So get ready and remember – “nothing is impossible”……
Man of the match: Nicholas Clegg
U9/3 vs All Saints
Week 12 (4 July)
RESULT: LOSS 0:5
SCORERS:
Not much to report this week. Losing 5:0 is rather disappointing, however, being 3 players short didn’t make our task easy. Well done Riley, our goalie second half, who saved and held many attacks.
Better luck next time boys! Man of the match: Riley Behlevanas
U9/3 vs Ryde Saints United
Week 11 (27 June)
RESULT: LOSS 0:2
SCORERS:
Once again – a nail biting game! (for the parents!). The team played really well this week and held up great against a very good team. Saints United put the pressure on, and we had to play fast and had great saves from our goalies. Daniel in the first half saved quite a few attacks on goal, but as the team got a bit tired in the second half, Aytron our second half goalie came under a lot of pressure and handled it really great! Not a bad result, considering we’ve lost 3:0 the first time we have versed Saints United.
Thanks to Ari Lucero from under 7’s, who filled in this week, good passing to your team mates!
Man of the match: Ayrton Lucero
U9/3 vs Thornleigh
Week 10 (20 June)
RESULT: LOSS 0:2
What a wet challenge! Well the game was on and it was a great challenge for all the boys out there! Slippping and sliding through mud puddles, we unfortunately could not fend off two goals. The Thornleigh boys were just the better team on the day. We have had a few good opportunities in the second half, but eventually ran out of time. The boys certainly learned that it is very different playing in the rain and hopefully can adapt to such conditions a bit faster next time. Thanks to Preston
Stewart and Jeremy Bingham who filled in on short notice, as two of our players fell ill.
U9/3 vs Pennant Hills
Week 8 (6 June)
RESULT: Win 6:2
SCORERS: Joel Crawford, Nicholas Churchill, Ayrton Lucero, Daniel Mathews
What a fantastic game! After not having had training for two weeks, the team really pulled it together. Coach Mr B, held a briefing and strategy session before game start, and the kids were all encouraged and enthusiastic. Teamwork up the front was great – good passing between midfielder and wingers. Strong kicks from Nick from the back, which helped the boys to push forward very quick and fast. We had our two girls in the back to help out Aryton and Nick. Well done girls.
All in all it was a well rounded and well played game. Good to hear Ayrton is fully fit again, after a knee injury.
Man of the match: Joel Crawford, who scored two goals and never gave up chasing every opportunity.
U9/3 vs Redfield
Week 7 (30 May)
RESULT: Loss 0:2
Another tough game. Redfield Lions played a well structured and skillful game. Our boys played very good and both goalkeepers, Nick & Joel, defended with confidence. Well done to Jessica, who stayed on and played for almost the whole game. We had some great passing between the midfielder and our left / right wingers. Man of the match was Daniel Mathews, who played with full enthusiasm and tried to turn the game around as quickly as possible. Bad luck for the missed penalty kick. Now we just need to focus a bit more on holding our positions, passing the ball quickly and we will score again!
A big thank you to Zac Raddatz , from Under 8’ , for filling in, well done, and we might need you again soon!
U9/3 vs Saints United
Week 4 (9 May)
RESULT:, LOSS 0-3
It was a tough, but great game. Our boys really kept up well with the pace, although we were one player short for the first ten minutes, and had no reserves for the whole game! The grounds at Holy Cross added a bit of extra challenge – every time the ball went out on the left side of the field, it rolled down a hill, so extra exercise for the boys. First half we received one goal, in the second half two goals. The Saints United were very fast in turning the game around, we had a few attempts at their goals, but unfortunately couldn’t get passed the goal keeper. Although our boys gave it their very best, we lost 0:3. Player of the day was Max Bailey.
Under 9/3 vs Redfield (Trial Game)
RESULT: LOSS 1 - 4
It was a tough match – a bit of a wake up call for the season ahead. The team played well but I think it was clear that they will need to focus on holding their positions and team co operation.
All in all it was a fun way to get back into the soccer season and we are looking forward to the season ahead.
