U12/1 vs Epping Eastwood

Week 5 (16 May)
RESULT: LOSS 0-3
Interesting match to say the least - in terms of weather. The wind at Epping Oval was so strong the boys had to really compensate for how they played and kicked the ball around as it had a tendency to veer off course. We had a full team this week but unfortunately the boys were a little out of sorts and didn’t bring their training skills to the game. Oh well – sometimes you have good days and sometimes not so good.
It was nil all in the 1st half with some really great defending especially from Jadyen. The second half saw one of the opposition receive a yellow card which gave us the opportunity for a direct penalty shot. Dale decided to take the shot but unfortunately the goalie was lightning fast and it didn’t get through – bad luck Dale.
Our goalie played to his usual high standard but had a couple of unlucky breaks which unfortunately allowed a couple of goals to get through – never mind Josh it was just bad luck really.
Man of the match had to go to Jayden for his great defending. Congratulations Jayden!!

Week 4 (9 May)
RESULT: LOSS 1-3
SCORERS: Harry Rivers
What a great game – The team has improved greatly with the implementation of tactical and skills training twice a week. They moved, communicated and played as a single unit and it made all the difference in how they controlled the opposition - from the start of the game right through to the end. Not only was our defense strong but our forwards had numerous shots at scoring. Unfortunately not all of them made it through. Except for Harry’s goal in the 1st half – there was nothing they could do stop it – well done Harry.
Man of the match however had to go to Joshua (our Goalie) what a performance. Although our backs did a great job in keeping the opposition forwards away from the goal box Josh stopped a number of long goal shots with great skill. Let’s hope the boys can keep up the momentum for our next match. Congratulations Joshua!! And Go Pumas!
A big thank you also goes to our U11/5’s players; Callum Brown and Joshua Cole, who helped us with low numbers on the day. The boys did a great job especially considering that they played outside of their normal positions.

Week 3 (2 May)
RESULT: LOSS 1-10
SCORERS: Joel Behlevenas
Second game of the season and it was another tough match for the boys. The opposition played very well and we struggled to match their skill from the start. The boys really struggled against how well the other team coordinated their strategy to make their goals against us.
We improved greatly in the 2nd half which saw a great goal come in from Joel. And he had some good support up front too just in case he got into some trouble. But he didn’t, and Joel scored our 1st goal of the season!
However man of the match had to go to Thomas Nassif for his tenacity and energy in wing defense. He made me tired just watching him. Congratulation Thomas!!

U12/1 vs WPH-Cherrybrook

Week 2 (18 Apr)
RESULT: LOSS 0-10
Officially this was our first game of the season and a real eye-opener for the team. This is the first year that the team is playing in Division 1. The team has lost some key players from last year but has acquired new key players to replace them. In short the team is rediscovering itself all at the same time as playing at the top of the table. A little tough to begin but they’ll get there!
WPH were a very tough contender and played extremely well on the day. Coincidently WPH U12/1’s have been together and playing in Division 1 since Under 9’s.
To the game - From first kick-off the boys had their work cut-out for them but this did not deter them from a good fight or from playing as hard as they could. They worked hard in the first half whilst they got used to playing in new positions and used to the way the opposing team play. It was nail-biting stuff indeed!
The second half saw even more determination in the team’s playing style and co-ordination which made WPH work a lot harder than they had to in the first. Our goalie for the day was Harry Rivers and he skillfully saved numerous goals and some brilliantly too. And rightly so he named player of the week. Congratulations Harry!!

Under 12/1 vs Redfield (Trial Game)

30th March 11:00 pm

RESULT: LOSS 0-11
What a tough game – Our Under 12’s team had a disadvantage from the start, playing Redfield U13’s. With three other players playing up from U12 / Division 5 to help fill missing numbers. Who I might add had just finished playing their own game. But somehow they still managed to put their best game into our match – thank you very much guys! Our goalie Liam O’Neill really had his work cut-out for him but boy did he do a great job regardless of the result and stopped a number of goals during the match. Noteworthy mentions go to Jeremy Liu and Thomas Nassif for great defence work. Player of the week goes to Liam O’Neill and Jeremy Liu. Thanks team – tough match but we learnt lots - just in time for our official draw!
