In a fairly even first half Glenhaven went to the break leading 2-1 after two breakaway goals. Glenhaven stretched their lead to 3-1 early in the second half after an accidental hand ball in the box. However, despite the score, the momentum had already swung in our favour and they were struggling to keep us out as they tired and we went on the rampage! After a handball in the box we went to 2-3 with a well struck penalty from Michael Townsend, followed by a second goal to Tim Soutchcott, a great cross from Nathan Godby that was headed in by Shane Merrick and then a final scramble in the box, that no one seemed sure how it had gone in the net, (one of their players was seen looking at the side of his boot!) saw an amazing 5-3 final score line.
It was a very encouraging result in a game played in an excellent spirit and a fitting reward for the team as they tried hard and were rewarded for their work. Great performances throughout the team!

We had not played a game for three weeks and our fitness was not great! It was a tough game against the top team in the division. I think we probably had almost as many good shots on goal as they did but theirs went in and we simply couldn’t put it past the keeper. Despite the score it was certainly not all bad news and I believe we can beat them next time if we take our chances and are a bit tighter in defense. Everyone played well although I don’t think there were any stand out stars. Tim Southcott certainly never stopped running and chasing in the mid field.
